The Joy of Road Movies

What is a road movie you might ask. Well, a road movie is any movie where the characters are trying to get from one place to another and largely takes place in a vehicle. There are many types of road movie and they encompass elements form many other genres. You have the houmous, with great examples like “The Hangover”, as well as classics like “National Lampoons Family Vacation” and “Cannonball Run”. And who could forget “Smoky and the Bandit”? You have the more action oriented like the “Transporter” series and the “Fast and Furious” films. You have more serious films like “Rain Man” and even “Driving Miss Daisy”. There are even cop dramas, one example of which would be “The Gauntlet”, starring Clint Eastwood. Of course, some people would argue that some films are not road movies, but it a subjective definition sometimes. A case in point would be “Road Warrior” the kick off to the “Mad Max” movies. So, sit back, get yourself some popcorn, and watch a road movie. You’ll be glad you did.
